This is the reverse side of the "From the S.P.A. Menton to Biddy" horse brass...roughly translated as I also served.

It is also odd in that the outer diamonds are very rough and irregular, each 'triangle' has been punched out individually with not much accuracy. I think the 'usual' way this border is cut is with a 'multi-headed' tool that punches all the triangles in one go. Someone has been having a play!!

OK, counting is not my strong point, there are of course only 9 petals/points on the flower/star.

The orientation of the central star could appear to be a trivial reason to class this as a different design to 11038. For similar cast crescents, where the star is soldered to the central bar, I would agree. However for these stamped brasses it would require making a new die to emboss the shape and a new punch to cut out around it. I would argue that amount of work justifies classing it as a different design, a conscious decision was made to produce it (why? as it is unlikely most people would even notice), it is not just a whim or an accident of how the star was orientated when assembled.

This is one of a set of 3, "PINZA", "PAPPA FOURWAYS" and "EARLY MIST", produced for Wetherall's of Bond Street,during the 1950's. The originals, like this one, were stamped/embossed. On some there was writing on the backs as well, possibly several variations, we need more front and back photos to catalogue all the variations. The fine detailing made them good patterns for casting replicas, so there are many cast variations as well.
