Stamped Crescent with 10 point 'star' which has central bump

A stamped crescent that has a bar soldered across it with a stud soldered to the bar. The stud is in the form of a 10 point star or perhaps a flower. I am unsure if it is an 'after-market' modification or as manufactured. The even patina on the back indicates the bar and stud were added early in the life of the brass.

OK, counting is not my strong point, there are of course only 9 petals/points on the flower/star.
